For a couple of decades, I've been doing these ambient Halloween tracks for myself to carve pumpkins to; drink cider to; sit in front of the fireplace and read ghost stories to. I thought maybe people would like this one.
It's only 15 minutes long, so loop it if you like it: Or, if you love it, request some of my longer Halloween pieces. I got a zillion.
...It all comes from wishing "On Land" by Brian Eno was longer--an album which is oddly sacred to me; and wanting to do things that evoke that same atmosphere. I use a lot of generative in these pieces, because I like to surprise myself when I listen back. (I also don't taste the food when I'm cooking, for the same reason.)
The train sound at the end is because, here at my home in Vermont, the sound of the train coming up the valley echoing off the mountains in the cold Halloween air, touches my soul.
